Nautical Commission

Independent, objective and impartial.

The Nautical Commission to the Commercial Court of Antwerp originated in 1802, when the Court decided to appoint for the first time three permanent and independent maritime experts, assigned to inspect the seaworthiness of ships and stowage, and to  advise the court in nautical matters.

These experts have traditionally united themselves, and the partnership was given the name 'Nautical Commission' early on. Since 1802, the Nautical Commission has continued uninterrupted and has evolved together with the maritime-legal landscape.

Traditionally the members of the Nautical Commission were all former seagoing ship masters, today with Naucom the choice was made to broaden the profile in order to serve other branches of industry, engineering and logistics besides the maritime sector.

The Nautical Commission is a well-known entity nationally and internationally in the maritime-legal sector, guaranteeing quality and strict impartiality. With Naucom, this tradition continues unabated.
